Video Production Tip : Interview Lighting
Apart from crystal-clear sound, good lighting is what really sets a professionally shot interview apart from an amateur job.
We use soft lights – KinoFlo DivaLites and Gekko Karesslites – in our quest for the Rembrandt Triangle, as seen in his 1654 painting ‘Alter Mann Im Lehnstuhl’ (below). The triangle is the area of light among the soft shadows, on the side of the face away from the key light source.
This video by Chuck Fishbein is an excellent introduction to lighting and shooting an interview.
