Performance assessment methods - training DVD
The JRCPTB commissioned this DVD having completed a
pilot study into the three performance assessment methods
of the Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercise (MiniCEX) - a
structured observation of a clinical encounter, Directly
Observed Procedural Skill [DOPS] 360 degree assessment (or
‘multi source feedback') and Patient satisfaction
questionnaire [PSQ].
The JRCPTB implemented them within SpR training from
the autumn of 2005. Whilst the methods of assessment have
been piloted using Medical SpRs, there is little doubt
that they are also applicable across all medical
specialties and grades of trainee and, probably, SAS
doctors in the context of providing evidence of competency
as part of an application for direct entry in the
specialist register.
