Michael has 22 years' experience in broadcasting – including nearly seven years as a Sky News anchorman up to the end of 2005.
Michael has been teaching presentation techniques for nearly ten years; importantly, he remembers what it was like, confronted with cameras for the first time – and this forms the centrepiece of his coaching. Recently he’s worked as a freelance news producer for BBC News & other news broadcasters.
In the last two years, Michael set-up and ran all the news courses for the London Academy of Media, Film and TV (including a specialist Autocue day) – and regularly lectures at the London School of Journalism on "TV psychology" – his own course. He's also a guest trainer at the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association.
If you're at all anxious about appearing on camera and/or would like some practical guidance, Michael can help both prior to recording and on the day. He is able to relate to clients in a friendly, insightful way which we believe will inspire you to do your best promoting your message on-screen.
Michael will encourage you to focus on your message and blot-out any distractions. He'll help you bring your performance to life and maximise your authority and naturalness when presenting on camera and if necessary, assist in writing or re-writing scripts and formulating ideas for speaking without notes, or prompters. He can also advise on clothes.
Michael has fifteen years' radio experience and has voiced many news packages for satellite and terrestrial TV – making him an ideal trainer for those also needing to add out-of-vision commentary to pictures
